Dusty camera, forgotten tap shoes and lost paint set

Is there something you use to like to do, but you are not doing anymore?  Maybe it’s painting, photography, sculpting, even hiking or just walking in the park.  I started losing my passion, years ago. I use to love to dance. When I  was two years old, my mother took me to ballet lessons. As I got older, my uncle who was a dance instructor, taught me the twist.

My father’s family, especially my aunt and father have always loved to dance.  When I was growing up, my grandmother lived with us. In the evening, she would pour 1/2 of a glass of red wine and 1/2 water.  Soon she would be dancing to the music, then I, my sister and brother would join in.  It was fun dancing with my grandmother.

She would put her hands up in the air and twirl around, this way and that way.  The music would be loud and we would all be clapping and dancing. As I got older into my early teens, I would go dancing with my aunt.  We would usually go to a fair,  where they would have live music. I remember one night they had a tribute band, that played the Bee Gees music.

Here I was 14 years old, dancing to disco music with my aunt. We were dancing the same dance steps, as in the “Saturday Night Fever” movie.  What a fun night we shared.  As I got a little older, I would sneak out at night to go to dance clubs.  Nothing bad happened to me, but I did learn a lot of dance moves.

I got into break dancing for a while and even was able to moonwalk like Michael Jackson.  After that, I stopped dancing for about 10 years. When I moved to Hollywood, I started to go out dancing again.  I have always wanted to be a dance choreographer. I feel so free on the dance floor, I loved it.  Sometimes, I would go dancing on Friday night and Saturday night.

One year, I went to Sarasota Florida on vacation.  I decided to go to a night club one night, to dance. I start dancing, as I turn around, there are about 5 girls dancing around “Doogie Howser!” Neil Patrick Harris is  dancing, right next to me!  That was a fun night to remember.  While living in Hollywood, I would occasionally, drive into Mexico.

The Mexico border, was about a two-hour drive. Some weekends, I would go with friends to Tijuana Mexico, so we could dance. The main strip had about 30 clubs, across from each other.  We would dance until 4 a.m., then go outside to find a street grill, that was serving bacon wrapped hotdogs. Spending weekends, in Mexico was a lot of fun.

A few years later, I moved to Northern California. As I got settled into my new place, I forgot about dancing. I have not been to a night club for a long time.  It amazes me that something we clearly love, can one day disappear, like it never happened. A wise woman once told me, “if there is something you like to do and you stop doing it, you could be depressed.”

Recently, I have found my love for dancing again. I love Zumba!   I love the dances, the music, everything.   If there is something you use to like to do and haven’t done it in a while, now is the time do it. So, go and find your dusty camera, forgotten tap shoes and lost paint set, it is waiting for you.

Blogging Neighbor…

So, I am on to assignment 3 today, for blogging101 course. Trying to play catch up… The assignment For yesterday, was meet your neighbors. I had to follow 5 new blogs and 5 new topics, I think that’s right. Wow… Not as easy as I thought. Everytime, I would start to read a blog that I liked, I noticed at the end of the post it was category that I was already following.

I then went out to the freshly pressed blogs, then to readers favorite blogs, then topics, tags, etc… I finally settled on topics. My new blogs that I decided to follow are humor, family, art, culture and travel. I read some great blogs today, that I wouldn’t have read, if I had not done my assignment. Some of them, might not have been my favorite categories, but I quite enjoyed reading them, after scrolling through the topics list.

Being able to see blogs from all over the world is quite exciting. I even discovered one blog, where I and the blogger had the same phobias. I thought… Wow… There is someone out there like me and the thing we have in common is more than just typing away on our blog. Well, that’s what I learned today. Take a chance and try to follow someone, you might never of thought of following. You might be pleasantly surprised, to learn a thing or two.

What will be… C’est la vie…

catsThe name of my blog is “whatever it is, it’s not so bad.”  Today I have changed my title, for my second blogging101 assignment.  I guess, they want to know if I know how to change my title.  Yes, I do.  The reason I picked my original title is because I try to see the positive, that life has to offer.  Life has many challenges, good and bad.  When I open my blog each day, I can glance at the title, to see a little reminder, that life is okay.

That what will be, will be. As long as I try to give my best effort, life can’t be that bad.  We tend to complain about our life, the obstacles that we face, the ups and downs.  Sometimes, it seems there is too many downs and not enough ups.  One way I remind myself to be positive, is that I have another day on this earth.  I wake up and say, “thank you, for another day.”  To myself, of course…lol.  I get another chance to see the trees, the sky and the birds.  Another day to see my family and friends.

When I was younger, I would say, “whatever,” when I didn’t like something or things weren’t going my way.  Whatever this, whatever that…  I wouldn’t really think things through, just a quick whatever would do.  I even had a friend who I hadn’t spoken to for a number of years, ask me if I still said, whatever.  I never thought, I said it that much.  Now, my feelings have changed, about using that word. Actually, I rarely say the word anymore. My new saying is “C’est la vie.”

It is a French saying, which means “that’s life or that’s the way it goes.”  So this is reason, I choose my title, “whatever it is, it’s not so bad.”

Who am I… Why am I here…

I just joined a new class called, Blogging 101 on WordPress. My first assignment is a quick introduction…  Here it goes:  I studied fashion merchandising, line and design when I was younger.  Then I moved to Hollywood, in hopes of working on films and television.  In the beginning I worked at the Beverly Center and bank, in Beverly Hills, hoping to meet people in the film industry.  I took me awhile, before I worked on my first movie.

I was hired as a costume designer, for a film company.  I would go to Warner Bros., studios to pick up wardrobe, as well as create my own.  It was so exciting to see clothes that I had picked out for the actors, to show up in the film.  After that I got into film editing, which was quite a long project.  Even though the hours where long, I still enjoyed bringing the film together and seeing the final project.

Photography is one of my true passions.  I was the chief photographer on my college newspaper.  Seeing ones pictures on print, is very rewarding.  Especially since all pictures, do not end up in print. The reason I started blogging, was to hopefully bring out my creative side in one way or another.  When I am being creative, it is such an incredible high.  The satisfaction of writing a piece of work and having someone tell you, how much they like it, is the cream of the crop.

Since I have just recently started blogging, I hope to learn all I can from my fellow bloggers, as well as from WordPress.

Have a goodnight and happy blogging.  🙂
