I’m back…

Featured

I think, it must be 7 years, since I started my blog. I went away for awhile, then a day would pass, a week and a month and years… In 2019, I went on to my WordPress and inserted the title, ”I’m back.” That is all I did, no story or picture, just a title. Then I hit save and figured, I would type something, the next evening.

Well, here I am on WordPress at midnight, on April 4, 2022. Some would say, I am “fashionably late.” 😊 I say, “Let the games begin!” Lol. I have always, wanted to say that… and I did! I just remembered something, it is not good for me, to type late at night. Let’s see how this goes… Okay, once upon a time…

No, seriously, there are people on this site, that I have thought of through the years. Their stories and wonderful work of arts, that have made me smile, laugh and at times, shed a tear. I wonder about the young man who was publishing his science fiction book and the guy that worked at half-price books. The guy in Maine, who would run in the snow and liked to drink Snapple.

The cartoonist in France, drawing comics. The lady who writes the mystery books and the other lady, creating cool art and writing science fiction stories. The lady with the golden retrievers and the lady, who got married and had to move to Italy, trying to get use to no ice and wearing scarfs on your neck. The young lady writer, who is blind and sharing her experiences.

People talking about their personal experiences with family issues, work issues, dating, long distance romance and talking about their mental health issues. There have been many, wonderful photographers and travelers, with entertaining stories to tell. I remember a woman named Bobbie and some famous women who worked years ago, in New York, for top publishing firms.

I love to read articles, from the video gamers and foodies. I even, read the stories, from the writers who talk about religions and politics. Well, I think, I remembered everyone. I wonder, who will be able to tell, that I was talking about them. If you know, that I mentioned you, come on by and say, ”hello.” Well, until we meet again… 😊 Goodnight Zzzzzz

This is one of my digital art works, I will be sharing more soon.

Thank you…

Thank you, to all my followers, for your continued patience, since I have not been posting on a regular basis. I have been busy working on projects, including writing and painting. Soon, I hope to show you, what I have been working on.

I want you to know, that I read your blogs every day. You all are incredible writers and artist. When I read your blogs, they give me a smile or a chuckle and sometimes even a teary eye. I want to thank you, for being there and taking me on your journey.

Great Scott!

Well, last night was something else.  The rain decided to make a surprise visit and brought along an unwanted guest.  A powerful thunderstorm.  The party went on for the next hour.  It wasn’t just one lightning bolt,  here and there, we are talking multiples over and over.  So, you had your typical lightning, from the sky down to earth.  After that, things got crazy, just like in “Back to the Future” where Doc and Marty take off in the DeLorean.

The lightning bolts were all over the place.  Some straight across the sky, then back again like a boomerang.  Others looked like spider webs, while some were as pink as cotton candy. I didn’t mind the lightning, but you know with lightning comes thunder.  The thunder was so loud, I jumped right out of bed and screamed, “Great Scott!”  No, but I wish I had, it is was more like, “I’m scared!”  I ran off to get my lantern, just in case the lights went out.

The storm reminded me of the time, when I drove from California to Florida.  I was able to experience the wonders of mother nature, during the rainy season.  Arizona and Texas had beautiful lightning shows, that lite up the sky.  One day while in Texas, I stopped at a gas station and was told a tornado was about 100 miles away.  It was already windy, so I decided it was time to get out of there.

On to jazzy Louisiana, now there’s a thunderstorm!  I remember the first night, that I had arrived at the hotel, just as I get into bed… Boom!  The room lite up, like the 4th of July.  The thunder was so loud, I thought someone had blown up the parking lot.  I looked out the window, expecting to see the worse disaster.  It was just the thunder, saying “welcome to Louisiana.”  The next day, I  finally reach my destination, sunny Florida.

Don’t be fooled, by Florida’s beautiful weather.  One minute it will be sunny and blue, then the next minute, the sky will be gray, pouring down buckets of rain.  The thunder and lightning can be pretty intense.  You should know, that this will happen every three to four hours, through out the day.  If you plan it right, you can go swim or fish, then run back inside when the rain starts, then run out when it stops.

So, back to last night, at my place.  Lets welcome back, the thunder of hell.  After, I put my lantern down by the bed and got comfy watching TV, that is when hell broke loose.  Man, oh man it was loud.  I heard this terrible rumble, similar to an earthquake noise, but much louder.  The thunder was getting louder and louder.  It was so loud, that my house was shaking.   I just froze, wondering what is next.

It was not for a second, the thunder seemed to go on forever.  I found out the closer the thunder, the closer the lightning.  I will always remember that noise and frightening feeling of helplessness.  It sounded like the earth had cracked open.  All I could do, was sit there with my lantern, my minion blanket (yes, I have one) and enjoy the show.  Actually, the lightning was the only part of the show, that I enjoyed.

So, do you have a story to tell?  I’d love to hear anyone, share their thunderstorm experience.  Pictures anyone?

Time for sleep

I sleep with one eye open, trying to get some rest

It doesn’t matter what I do, I’ve tried my best

Trees scratch on the windows pane, I think I’m going insane

Neighbors are home, kid is screaming, because he got a new drone.

I wish I could tell the kid off, but he’s not my own

I get up to make sure the window is closed

Back to bed, I’ll have another go

Five minutes later, the damn phone rings

I try to drown out the noise, but it won’t stop

I jump up out of bed and trip on my shoe

I’m laying on the floor, I yell “F You!”

I make my way to the phone, but nobody is there

I look at the phone, it was a blocked number

Phone is now off the hook, won’t be a bother

Next minute you know, someones at the door

Screw this, I’m going back to bed

I need my rest, before I…

I’m back in bed, with no distractions

Here I go, 1, 2, 3…

10 minutes later, I need to pee

Once Upon a Time…

I found a wonderful blog by Clarissa W. Atkinson. Great posts…. Enjoy!

The Oldest Vocation

In 1955, right out of college, I found one of those jobs in publishing so dear to history and English majors who could afford them. We were paid almost nothing, which was considered OK for girls, at least if they had parents who could give them a winter coat for Christmas and bail them out in an emergency. Health insurance wasn’t necessary in those days, when a visit to the doctor or a prescription for an antibiotic cost very little. If you shared space, you could even rent an apartment in Manhattan; with three roommates, I lived near Second Avenue in the80s. We had a duplex two-bedroom apartment in a funky old house with a lot of charm – and a lot of cockroaches, but who cared? Right above the bathtub on the second floor there was a skylight that offered dirty and difficult access to the roof. We…

The Old Man and the Blackbird

The blackbird sits by the window.

Waiting for his friend to rise.

The old man wakes up and walks slowly to the window.

He opens it just slightly to let his friend in.

“How are you feeling,” the blackbird asks.

“Tired, but fine my friend,” the old man replies.

The blackbird shakes his feathers and looks the old man up and down.

“You haven’t been eating much, have you,” says the blackbird.

The old man answers, “just a little here and there.”

“You have to keep your strength up, so you can enjoy this beautiful day,” the blackbird replies.

“I really don’t feel like going outside.  I feel tired today. It’s been a long week.  I can’t stop thinking of Martha.”

“Martha will always be with you my friend.  I promised her, I would watch over you.”

The old man stops for a moment to think, then answers, “I remember when I found you under the tree, you were so small.  I brought you home and Martha made you a tiny bed.  As you got older, you would go outside, but always come back.”

The blackbird replied, “you and Martha will always be my family.  Now it’s time to take care of you.”

“What will happen when my time comes, my friend, where will you go?”

“I will still be with you, just like Martha.  You need not worry.  Now, please eat something.”

So, the old man sat down at the table, took a sip of wine and sliced some bread. He tore a piece of bread, to give to his friend.  That night the old man celebrated with a plate of sausage and cheese.

His mind was now at ease, knowing the blackbird was indeed a true friend.

How To Be Happier And Enjoy Life

Check out “The Return of the Modern Philosopher.” Austin is a fantastic writer.

The Return of the Modern Philosopher

bad dateI’ve received many emails from Modern Philosophers who aren’t out in the dating world, asking me to write a dating tips style post to help with other life issues.

I tasked the interns with contacting all of you to see what kind of life tips you’d like, but since this blog has almost 14,000 followers, one of them might not have gotten to you yet.  Please be patient.

In the meantime, an overwhelming number of those contacted asked for tips on how to be happier and better enjoy life.

Challenge accepted, Modern Philosophers!

I don’t think this is a problem that can be solved in one post, so tonight’s article will focus on identifying the things that might be making you unhappy.  Once you figure out what’s causing the unhappiness, you can work on being happy.

Make sense?  Good.  Here’s my best guess as to what’s got you down…

happy 1You…

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The good: I am writing a novel. The bad: If I share any content, it would most likely not get published.  The ugly: I have previously shared my writings from two novels, that I am working on. As for my new project, I can not get advice from anyone online, because I should not share my work.

For the past month, I have been working on a novel, possible screenplay, but choose not to post what I have written on my blog.  What I have learned from WordPress is if you want your work to be published, you should not share any of your work online.  In previous months, I shared paragraphs of two novels, that I am working on.  I was very excited, as I was writing, now my hopes of publishing, those two novels, have since deceased.

So, after reading opinions on WordPress, as well as researching publishers, I came to the conclusion, that I would not post my current project online. What I am working on now, is 75% fiction and 25% fact, that could slightly be another reason, that I am hesitant to post my work online.  In the end, I have realized that what I am working on is very important to me, as well as a lot of people in regards to the subject of my writing.

So, my question to you is if you are working on something which you want to publish, would you share any content of your writing online, which would include subject matter?

Or would you just keep it to yourself, until it is published?
