Sacred Touches

A hug delights and warms and charms;
that must be why God gave us arms.

Time for sleep

I sleep with one eye open, trying to get some rest

It doesn’t matter what I do, I’ve tried my best

Trees scratch on the windows pane, I think I’m going insane

Neighbors are home, kid is screaming, because he got a new drone.

I wish I could tell the kid off, but he’s not my own

I get up to make sure the window is closed

Back to bed, I’ll have another go

Five minutes later, the damn phone rings

I try to drown out the noise, but it won’t stop

I jump up out of bed and trip on my shoe

I’m laying on the floor, I yell “F You!”

I make my way to the phone, but nobody is there

I look at the phone, it was a blocked number

Phone is now off the hook, won’t be a bother

Next minute you know, someones at the door

Screw this, I’m going back to bed

I need my rest, before I…

I’m back in bed, with no distractions

Here I go, 1, 2, 3…

10 minutes later, I need to pee

Once Upon a Time…

I found a wonderful blog by Clarissa W. Atkinson. Great posts…. Enjoy!

The Oldest Vocation

In 1955, right out of college, I found one of those jobs in publishing so dear to history and English majors who could afford them. We were paid almost nothing, which was considered OK for girls, at least if they had parents who could give them a winter coat for Christmas and bail them out in an emergency. Health insurance wasn’t necessary in those days, when a visit to the doctor or a prescription for an antibiotic cost very little. If you shared space, you could even rent an apartment in Manhattan; with three roommates, I lived near Second Avenue in the80s. We had a duplex two-bedroom apartment in a funky old house with a lot of charm – and a lot of cockroaches, but who cared? Right above the bathtub on the second floor there was a skylight that offered dirty and difficult access to the roof. We…

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The good: I am writing a novel. The bad: If I share any content, it would most likely not get published.  The ugly: I have previously shared my writings from two novels, that I am working on. As for my new project, I can not get advice from anyone online, because I should not share my work.

For the past month, I have been working on a novel, possible screenplay, but choose not to post what I have written on my blog.  What I have learned from WordPress is if you want your work to be published, you should not share any of your work online.  In previous months, I shared paragraphs of two novels, that I am working on.  I was very excited, as I was writing, now my hopes of publishing, those two novels, have since deceased.

So, after reading opinions on WordPress, as well as researching publishers, I came to the conclusion, that I would not post my current project online. What I am working on now, is 75% fiction and 25% fact, that could slightly be another reason, that I am hesitant to post my work online.  In the end, I have realized that what I am working on is very important to me, as well as a lot of people in regards to the subject of my writing.

So, my question to you is if you are working on something which you want to publish, would you share any content of your writing online, which would include subject matter?

Or would you just keep it to yourself, until it is published?

BERMUDA

The wind was blowing hard. The storm was taking a toll on the plane.  “The plane is going to crash,” Harry shouted.

“I don’t want to die,” Jason screamed.

“Calm down everyone, just calm down,” Steve yelled.

I knew we were trouble, big trouble.  All of a sudden the plane jerked hard… Then it was dark.

I was just a young man of 22, I didn’t have a girlfriend, it just wasn’t a priority for me.
I would spend all my time on computers, hoping to be the next Steve Jobs. My friends kept bugging me to go on this trip, it would just be for a few days.  I finally agreed, even though I knew their was a storm coming, but I figured we would be okay.  We were going to Bermuda for a few days, just the guys.

I packed the night before, so I would be all set for the morning. I woke up earlier than usual, as I looked out the window, I could see the clouds coming in. Steve had just pulled  in the driveway. I waved to him, then ran downstairs.  As I grabbed my bags, the phone rang, it was mom. I let the machine pick it up, I figured I would call her in the car. Once I got  in the car, I glanced in the back Harry and Jason, we’re fast asleep.

Late night?  I asked Steve. “Yea, they were on the computers, like usual,” Steve replied. Awhile later, as we were driving I felt a push on my seat.  I turned back to see Harry grinning.  “What’s up Lucas, how ya doing?” Harry asked. From the looks of it, a lot better than you, I grinned. “Yea well, I was up late working on that damn program again, it’s always giving me trouble,” Harry replied.

“Well, there will be no computers at least for a few days.  All work and no play makes Johnny a bad boy,” Steve added. You mean all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, Lucas chimed in. “Whatever, you know what I mean,” replied Steve. Jason was finally awake. Well, I was playing late last night and I’m still a bad boy,” Jason smirked. We all laughed, we knew what Jason meant.

Even though Jason was a computer geek, when he went out, he had a personality that the girls loved.  He was a ladies man, a smooth operator.  I never really understood, how someone could have two split personalities. We were almost to the airport, when I remembered I needed to call mom.  I dialed her number, but there was no answer, so I left her a voice mail letting her know, that I would be back in a few days.

I glanced up at the sky, there seem to be more clouds than earlier. The sky doesn’t look so good, I said to Steve.

“Don’t worry about the sky Lucas, everything’s going to be fine, just fine,” Steve replied.

Have you lost your passion? Take one step at a time, to get it back.

Thinking about last nights post,“Dusty Camera, Forgotten Tap Shoes and Lost Paint Set” brought up many questions.  Why do we stop doing the things that we love to do? Is it a slow decline or a sudden stop? When you’re in the middle of doing your painting, writing, acting or singing and feel very passionate about it, could you ever imagining stopping? Well, many people lose their passion, for many reasons.

If you are thinking, about the things that you use to feel passionate about, try taking baby steps, one step at a time. Start with the number one thing, that you used to like to do and do it for 3 minutes, next day 5 minutes, next day 7 minutes, etc. That’s a start, your brain will start a new pattern and look forward to it the next time. Here is a wonderful video from Producer Mateusz M. That may help you think, about your passions and goals.

Spider has just claimed victory, on my old wooden chest…

I open the rusty latch on the barn door.

The moment I step inside, I feel sick.

I can see the old wooden chest in the corner.

I raise my hands over my head,

making sure I don’t run into a spider’s web

As the light shines through, it produces a new clue.

A web hangs in the corner of the barn.

“Are u scared?  The spider seems to ask.”

Why am I scared when it’s just a thread?

A design of beauty, with a deadly scare.

The closer I get, my heart beats faster,

Just another second, won’t matter.

Felling uneasy, with each step I take,

I get chills down my spine and sweat on my face.

The large web glistens up high over my chest,

I just can’t, I can’t take another step.

The spider has just claimed victory, on my old wooden chest.

Hugs for my sweet Winnie-the-Pooh…

Hugs for me… Hugs for you…

Hugs for my sweet Winnie-the-Pooh.

Scampering over the hills, with Winnie, Roo and Christopher Robin too.

Oh!  What fun we will have on this bright sunny day.

Come on Rabbit, let’s play!

Oh!  Where can Piglet be?  Is that Eeyore by the tree?

I am hiding behind the bush, hoping to be free, from a tag, so no one can see me.

What’s that noise I hear?  Its Owl in the tree!

Oh dear, I whisper, please don’t tell on me.

I run from my spot and go up the hill.

Hair in my eyes, I run into Roo.

Tigger comes bouncing by full of glee.

We must go find Kanga, to have a cup of tea.

Pooh says, “What about honey, instead of tea?”

Here comes Eeyore and Piglet, now I am happy as can be.

This day has been wonderful, with having all my friends to see.

Four and twenty blackbirds looking at me

I lay in bed tired as can be

I look to the window and what do I see

Four and twenty blackbirds looking at me

I must be dreaming, this I possibly can’t see

I open my eyes wide and sure enough they’re looking at me

I get nervous thinking of that bird movie on tv

I don’t mind birds, but just a few

This is obvious too many, what to do

I close my eyes again, to get a wink or two

As I turn over and open one eye

I realize it’s 3am and just a dark sky

No more ice cream before bed

I can’t handle these visions in my head

I got me a sticker…

I got me a sticker

I got me a sticker

Stick it on my wall, stick it on my doll

I got me a sticker

I got me a sticker

Stick it on my door, stick it on my drawer

I got me a sticker

I got me a sticker

Stick it on my book, come and take a look

I got me a sticker

I got me a sticker

Stick it on my moms car, I better run far…
