Fact or Fiction…

As I lay in bed, I can see the tree’s shadow dancing on my walls.

It’s a cold and windy night, a storm is approaching.

Sometimes, I feel the wind will rip the roof right off.

I am all by myself, about 30 miles out-of-town.

It’s almost midnight and the wind is blowing hard.

I always get a strange feeling at night, when the clock strikes 12.

I try my best to get comfortable, trying not to think, that I am all alone.

All of a sudden, I hear a loud noise outside. The noise gets closer and closer.

Something is outside, running around my place. It’s so close, I can hear it breathing.

Hugs for my sweet Winnie-the-Pooh…

Hugs for me… Hugs for you…

Hugs for my sweet Winnie-the-Pooh.

Scampering over the hills, with Winnie, Roo and Christopher Robin too.

Oh!  What fun we will have on this bright sunny day.

Come on Rabbit, let’s play!

Oh!  Where can Piglet be?  Is that Eeyore by the tree?

I am hiding behind the bush, hoping to be free, from a tag, so no one can see me.

What’s that noise I hear?  Its Owl in the tree!

Oh dear, I whisper, please don’t tell on me.

I run from my spot and go up the hill.

Hair in my eyes, I run into Roo.

Tigger comes bouncing by full of glee.

We must go find Kanga, to have a cup of tea.

Pooh says, “What about honey, instead of tea?”

Here comes Eeyore and Piglet, now I am happy as can be.

This day has been wonderful, with having all my friends to see.

Four and twenty blackbirds looking at me

I lay in bed tired as can be

I look to the window and what do I see

Four and twenty blackbirds looking at me

I must be dreaming, this I possibly can’t see

I open my eyes wide and sure enough they’re looking at me

I get nervous thinking of that bird movie on tv

I don’t mind birds, but just a few

This is obvious too many, what to do

I close my eyes again, to get a wink or two

As I turn over and open one eye

I realize it’s 3am and just a dark sky

No more ice cream before bed

I can’t handle these visions in my head

Sweet Water…

Sweet Water

I open the red box with glee.

I can’t wait, to hang it by my window, in my big oak tree.

As I wait and wait…

A hummingbird notices the new treat.

The water rocks back and forth.

The sun glistens through the bottle.

The hummingbird stops in mid-air.

to take a look around…

Then continues drinking each drop with vigor.

It can’t get enough of the sweet water.

Its wings flap with such vibrant motion,

stopping to look at me in the window.

I wonder, what is it thinking about…

Just as the hummingbird, might wonder, what am I thinking about…

My memory is a little cloudy about that incident…

Writing 201: Poetry.  Day 5:  Fog, Elegy, Metaphor

My Grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, before she passed away.  Even though, I have not been diagnosed myself, some days are harder than others, for me to remember things.  In my poem, I share with you, some of my foggy moments.

My memory is a little cloudy about that incident

Why didn’t you remember?

I forgot…  What?  I forgot…

How can you forget something so important?

I don’t know?

I walk into a store, after a few minutes…  I think, where am I and why am I here.

And what do I need.

Life’s journey is a bicycle ride down the hill.

What was I doing?

Hmm… What was I doing?  I have no clue.

I took my contacts out of my eyes and threw them in the sink.

Why didn’t I put them in my contact lens case?

I put a cup of water in the microwave to make some tea.

Why did I take the cup out and drink it, while it was hot, without a tea bag?

Now…  What was I suppose to do?  I can’t think…

Life is a rollercoaster,  which every one has to go through.

I think, of a lot of things, all the time…

How can I forget the one thing, that I’m suppose to be doing.

I need milk…  I went to two stores today, but I forgot the milk!

Today is a new day, I just came back from the store, but I forgot the….

A cell phone is a light in a sea of darkness.

What is my home phone number?  *I don’t know, I don’t call myself.  I will get my cell phone, so I can tell you.”

* (Tip: sometimes, it better to use this line, instead of trying to remember your phone number, when your put on the spot)

Writing 201: Poetry…

Well, I struggled tonight, with the one they call Limerick.  So here goes…

The mouse

A big mouse came into my room

I screamed and grabbed the broom

I swiped his head

His under the bed

Now his in the other room

Japan

There once was a lady from Japan

Who always looked so grand

She rode in a trolley

Sucking on a lolly

Now her days of grand, have turned into sand

Limericks… Not.

Japan

Amy and Hashi went to Japan

They were so excited to land

Once on the ground

They walked around

Exploring Japan was quite grand

In My Head

The noises in my head won’t stop

I keep hearing snap, crackle, pop

I’ve traveled in my mind

So many, many times

Oh please, oh please make the noise stop

First Haiku…

I started a class today called Writing 201: Poetry. The topic today was how to write a poem or haiku with a simile.   If you have any suggestions, they are always welcomed.

Water

Colors of water

Shine through the lovely bottles

Water pearls float in

Waves

Warm island water

Crashing waves blue as the sky

Surfers boards broken

Frozen Pond

The water is cold

Snow caps surround the white lake

Frozen pond is iced

Attraction

Skin as white as snow

Lips as red as strawberries

Hair like threads of gold

Love is… Unknown.

Love is happy, love is sad

Love is strange, love is lame

Love is great, love is rare

Love is wonder,  love is hate

Love is demand, love is canned

Love is incredible, love is trouble

Love is nice, love is bad

Love is caring, love is daring

Love is well, love is sick

Love is fresh,  love is stale

Love is seeing, love is blind

Love is hot, love is cold

Love is smart, love is stupid

Love is sharing, love is selfish

Love is  playing, love is bashful

love is grand, love is bland

Love is sexy, love is crazy

Love is glam, love is bland

Love is real, love is fake

Love is found, love is gone

Love is close, love is distant

Love is…   Unknown…
