Ch 2: MOROI

My fingers are shaking, as I reach for the chain and lock the deadbolt.  I run to the windows to make sure they are all locked and I close my blinds.  I am scared… Really scared.  Like freaking out scared… Wondering what or who is this guy.  It’s was hard to get a good look at him,  but I know it’s a man.  I hate being scared, especially when I am alone.

I go into my bedroom and lock the door.  I get into bed, pull the covers up over me and wait.  Wait for what I think… Just waiting.

I must have dozed off.  I look at the clock and It’s been about an hour.  So far so good, nothing has happened.  As I start to get up, I hear a noise at my door.  I jump back in bed.  It can’t be Saul he is out-of-town. Could it be that man I saw by the tree? Could it?

A few hours later, I finally get up. I walk over to my front door.  Slowly opening it I step outside. Everything, seems fine.  What a relief.  As I turn around I notice something, that I had not noticed before. Perched on top of my gate is a glove. A black glove. My glove…

One more drop…

wine 222

There was a man from Italy, who danced so elegantly.

One more drop of wine, he was sure his wife wouldn’t mind.

One drop led to another, until he finally knocked over the bread and butter.

Looking aghast, he promised he would not have another glass.

Tip toeing to his room, he knocked over the broom.

As the broom fell down, his wife looked at him with a frown.

She snapped get to bed, before you get a knock on the head…

Land of Nowhere…

The water rushed with vigor down the hill.  The animals had already left the valley.  The Indians grabbed their children and horses.  Not all of them succeed, in leaving their homes.  The ones that did survive we’re heading off to a land of nowhere…  They weren’t sure, where their next home would be.  The memories of their loved ones taken away, where too much for some to bear.  The children’s eyes filled with fright, as their mothers held them with all their might.

Can you smell the apple crisp?

My family loves to cook, bake and eat.  In my family we have carnivores, vegetarian, vegans and raw foodies. Holidays are always so fun, the food planning that’s a different story. Oh… I almost forgot, there are also people in my family, with gluten sensitivity and lactose intolerant. Even though everyone has their own way of eating, we try to make everyone happy.  When my family eats, they celebrate.

We have excellent cooks and bakers in our family. My father use to own Italian restaurants. We always try to outdo one another, trying to see whose food taste the best. My grandmother used to make Panettone. It’s a soft bread, with raisins. She would make large ones as big as a pizza pan. She was the best baker in the family.  Through the years we still like to carry on tradition, of making favorite dishes, that are loved ones use to make.

A favorite dish of mine, was my grandmothers apple crisp.  When I make apple crisp, like my grandmother did, it reminds me of her. The smell of the cinnamon and apples, baking in the oven, brings on a comforting feeling of being with my grandmother. Even though my grandmother is no longer here, the day I make apple crisp, it feels like she is right by my side.

Do you have fond memories, of cooking with your family?

Let’s make today, a Great day!

day

Good morning and good evening, depending on where you live. Let’s make today a great one! Not so easy, huh… Well, if you woke up today that’s great! I have some bad days, at times more bad, then good. When I open my eyes in the morning, that’s one great thing. If I am able to see the outside, go for a walk, see the birds and the trees, that’s another great thing.

So, if your day is not going the way you want it too… Look around there might be some other things that you can appreciate. So let’s make today a Great one. 🙂

MOROI

I looked out the window, wondering when the sun would set. I hoped, dusk would be approaching soon. I could not stop thinking about the night before. I went for a walk in the garden late last night. As I looked over the hedges, I could see something or someone. I was not sure, what it was… As I peered closer to get a better look, the figure disappeared. Was I dreaming? No, I am sure I saw something.

Tonight I will go outside just before dusk, in hopes to get a better look, in case the something or someone comes back.  I have always been a curious person. Wanting to know everything. Now in my early twenties, I am just as curious. It’s almost dusk, I quickly get dressed. I must bring a warm jacket, hat and scarf.  Oh… And gloves.  I hate the cold.  So, if I do happen to gaze upon this creature again, then I want to be ready. Ready for anything.

As I leave  my flat and lock up, I think, maybe I should bring a flashlight. So, I go back in and grab a light. It’s so very quiet outside tonight. The moon is full, the birds are still and the trees have stopped dancing.  I feel a little nervous, as I walk to the end of the garden and look over the hedge, I see… I see…  nothing. I turn on my flashlight to get a better look. I know I saw something last night.

It’s very dark outside.  I am wondering if I should wait until daybreak, then I can go out by the trees and get a better look.  As I am walking back to the flat, I hear a noise, so I hurry to get inside.  Just as I step inside, something grabs my shoulder. I scream and quickly turn around. There is my best friend Saul laughing at me.

“I scared you”, he said.

I pushed him back, and said, “what the hell, you ass, I almost had a heart attack.”

” Why are you so skittish,  Saul asked?”

“I saw something last night out by the trees, behind the garden,” I replied.

“Well there is a lot of trees back there, could have been an animal of some sorts, ” Saul said.

” I don’t know, I said, it looked pretty big.  I am not sure, but I think it was a person.”

” A person, well that’s no good, you don’t want some weirdo running around in the woods, so close to your place.” Saul replied.

“Yeah, I know… But you know me, I had to go out and look.”

Saul answered,  “ya, I know you, you are always getting into something.”

“Ya, whatever,” I said, as I cracked a smile.

The next morning, I woke up early. I planned to do a little investigating, hoping to see something. I went outside and locked my door.  When I walked around the garden, towards the trees, I saw a shiny image. As I got closer, the suns rays were shinning upon a silver area by the tree. “What the heck is this,” I thought.  I reached out to touch the tree.  All of a sudden the silver area disappeared.  I jumped back and yelled, “ouch!” The area on the tree was hot, now I have burned my fingers.

As I turn around, to head back home, I noticed a black shadow that is running through the trees. I yell, “hello… hello,” but it disappears.  Now, I am nervous. What could it be?  I quickly hurry back to get  inside.  I turn around one last time. I see a man standing by the tree. He is looking at me. He is wearing a long coat and dressed all in black. He has black hair, dark as coal. I run back inside and lock my door.

Sleep… Zzzzzz.

Woman-Cant-Sleep

That wonderful word: Sleep.  Getting some Z’s, as some call it. You know, the moment you start yawning and your eyelids start drooping. You try to get in a comfortable position, but can’t seem to find it. So, you turn over and over and over and over.  Well, that’s not going to work. So, you get up to get a drink of water and check the thermostat, wondering if it’s too hot or cold in the house.

You get back to bed and adjust your pillow and blanket, hoping that will help, in getting you to sleep. So, you finally get comfortable. “Hip, Hip, Hoorah!” Finally! After a few minutes, you start to feel like you have to go to the bathroom. You think, no way am I getting up, I will just sleep it off or get up later. About half hour later, your still awake. What a surprise. Here you go again, getting up out of bed.

You hurry back to bed, thinking I can do this… You pull your covers up, get your pillow nice and comfy and close your eyes. Piece of cake. All of a sudden you hear a sound. What the heck! Someone has turned the tv on. The volume is loud enough to shake the walls. You yell, can you please turn down the tv! As you try to go back to sleep, you can still hear the tv. You try your best to drown out all noises.

Two hours later, you’re looking at the clock… Your still awake!  You toss and turn, then you turn over your pillow. You close your eyes, while thinking of what mom use to say, about counting sheep.  Hey, what have you got to lose…

Here goes… 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9…… Zzzzzzzzzz
